Welcome to Tales of Otraxis. This is where players can write their own content to contribute to the campaign setting!
Otraxis is a city nestled on the Palir Mountains which mark the edge of the Known World. Many vital rivers that feed the Kingdom of Leyira originate in the Palir Mountains, and the River Thienne which runs through Otraxis is the most important of those. Otraxis and its outstanding natural resources have kept the rest of the Leyira thriving over the centuries. It is a small but shining jewel in the remote north of the Kingdom.
What else is known about the city of Otraxis – and the world at large – is up to you, the player, to help decide. I will be feeding you information as time goes on, including maps, drawings and setting information, but you should feel free to contribute whenever you like!
Of course, if you’d rather read than contribute, that’s fine. Enjoy theseĀ Tales of Otraxis!

Otraxis itself is encircled by high stone walls quarried from the black granite of the Palir Mountains, daubed in white river mud.
The Palir Mountains themselves are rich with seams of gold, silver, electrum and quartz (as granite often is, although the northern deposits are unusually abundant). Eons of fire worms burrowing through the rock in search of food has created a vast array of different types of quartz, and lucky miners can find chalcedony, agate, onyx, jasper, tiger’s eye, amethyst, citrine and carnelian. The eggs of the fire worms themselves are also prized as jewelry.
Most mines in the area are controlled by the Baron of Otraxis (Margrave of the North) through his underlings, but some private commissions (and rogue mines) exist. Panning for gold in the Thienne is relatively unrestricted, so lots of treasure seekers try their luck there.
Otraxis is supported by a sweep of peasant farmers through the Barony of Otraxis, but depends in large part on a constant river trade with the southern cities for the food and non-mineral resources it needs to survive. It also maintains a small, erratic trade with the goblin khans north of the mountains.
…and forgot to say, the presence of quartz crystal in the river mud (a) makes it white but (b) also makes it glitter. The white daub that covers the walls is what makes Otraxis literally “the Jewel of the North”.
@ryan
All good, except I’ve had it with barons after Warhammer. ;-)
Otraxis is a Duchy. Oh, and since I already have a picture of it, the stone walls may not be so high as you imagined. Check out the City page for the updated picture! Sorry for the slight alterations, but who knew people would post so quick? Thanks for the city info!
City page now updated with your contributions! Thanks Ryan.
Future contributions to settings should go as comments on the relevant pages (navigation to them is at the top of the site), or as part of a “Tale”.
The good part is, he can be a Baron *and* a Duke. Hooray for nested titles.
But fine.
